Getting started
This guide gets you from a fresh account to your first booked session — for either side of the app. If you already know which role you are, skip to step 2.
1. Create your account
Sign up at app.teshape.com with email or Apple. The app has two portals in one — pick which one you are when prompted. You can switch later from your profile, and one account can hold both roles if you coach and train.
- A
Email + password
The classic. We send a magic-link verification, no codes.
- B
Sign in with Apple
One tap on iOS. Hides your real email if you want.
Heads up. Coach accounts go through a light verification step (ID + at least one cert) before your public profile is searchable. You can use the rest of the app immediately.
2. Complete your profile
Profiles are the smallest amount of work for the largest payoff. A complete profile gets ~3.4× more profile views and roughly 2× the response rate on first messages.
If you’re a coach
- Headshot (square, no logo overlay)
- Two-sentence bio — who you coach, what you don’t
- Specialties, certifications, languages
- One short video reel (optional, but it pulls weight)
If you’re a trainee
- Goal in a sentence (not a checklist)
- Training history — be honest, “none” is fine
- Constraints: injuries, schedule, equipment
3. Connect with your coach
If you’re a trainee, your coach will share an invite link. Tap it on your phone — the app opens to the connection screen with their card already loaded. Confirm and you’re paired.
If you’re a coach, share your public profile link from My profile. New trainees can also discover you organically through Find a coach.
# Your public profile link looks like this: https://teshape.com/c/lina-okonkwo # Each coach has exactly one. The slug is yours # for the life of the account — change it once.
4. Open your first session
Once paired, your assigned plan shows up under the Today tab. Tap Start session. Each exercise gives you target reps, target RPE, and the prescription notes your coach left. Log as you go — sets autosave, even offline.
That’s the whole loop. The rest of these docs go deeper into the workflows you’ll touch every week — programming, messaging, measurements, nutrition.
